"LARA and VON CROY after EGYPT
THIS SHORT BACK STORY FILLS IN THE GAP BETWEEN LARA’S DISAPPEARANCE IN THE COLLAPSING EGYPTIAN PYRAMID IN GAME IV AND HER REAPPEARANCE IN GAME VI.
WE CAN REVEAL AS LITTLE OR AS MUCH OF IT AS WORKS BEST. IT MOTIVATES WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN VON CROY AND LARA IN PARIS.
CLEARLY LARA WILL NOT BE FORTHCOMING TO ANYONE ABOUT WHY SHE DISAPPEARED. AFTER HER ABANDONMENT BY VON CROY AND NEAR DEATH IN THE RUINS SHE UNDERWENT A PERIOD OF TRAUMATIC REVALUATION OF HER LIFE.
IN GAME VI WE MAY GET NO MORE THAN HINTS ABOUT WHAT WENT ON IN THE INTERVENING TIME.
GAME FOUR
In Game IV Werner Von Croy had to abandon Lara in the collapsing Egyptian tomb. Towards the end of Game V, haunted by his protégé’s fate he returns to Egypt to try and discover what happened to her. Inside the tomb ruins he finds her backpack and signs that she may have got out of the ruins somehow.
Mystified by why she has not made contact in all this time Von Croy makes enquiries and tracks down a nomadic tribe rumoured to have helped a mysterious lady who appeared from out of the desert. She was in a bad way, far gone, rambling about gods and divine powers. To a tribal, desert mentality she was obviously special, a holy woman of some kind.
They took her in, caring for her until she was able to fend for herself. The mysterious stranger travelled with them along the ancient trade routes of North Africa as one of their own, unremarkable except for her intensity and strength of spirit..."

EARLY YEARS
Lara was independent and outgoing at school always preferring individual to team sports. Whilst at Gordonstoun she excelled at rock climbing, canoeing, horse riding and archery. A natural athlete she discovered a passion for firearms as an extra-curricula activity but was ‘discouraged’ by the school authorities. Later, in her Swiss finishing school, she developed her interest in firearms by charming her way onto the Swiss Armed Forces training range where she proved to be a natural and qualified marksman class. As the daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft Lara was used to the security of an aristocratic background. Predictably she rebelled against the more confining aspects of her upbringing but when she moved to Gordonstoun in 1984 the mountains of Scotland gave her an unprecedented degree of freedom. Her world changed further when she came across the work of Professor Werner Von Croy and heard him lecture about his archaeological career. Employment
Lara doesn't consider tomb raiding as a job, merely a way of life - although she has been known to uncover archeological artifacts on commission. To fund her radical lifestyle, Lara writes travel books. Titles so far have included 'A Tyrannosaurus is Jawing at my Head' and 'Slaying Bigfoot'. Her common complaint though is that she doesn't have enough time to put pen to paper.
Sports
Not much of a team player. Discovered rock climbing while at Gordonstoun and used to set off into the hills alone during netball practice. Also took up shooting as an extra-curricular activity but was instantly banned for showing ‘too keen an interest’. However, the strength that climbing gave her fingers was to become useful when she started pulling triggers for real...
Achievements
As well as uncovering many notorious archeological sites - including the Atlantean pyramid and the last resting place of the dagger of Xian, Lara has found fame in other areas… she has driven the dangerous Alaskan Highway from Tierra del Fuego in South America in record time (although this was later denounced by the Guinness Book of Records due to her ‘reckless driving’) and she hit the headlines again when she ‘reputedly’ hunted out and killed Bigfoot in North America..."
